Pilot of Firefly: "Serenity"
I just finished the episode and I thought that it was pretty good. It kept my interest which suprised me because after the first few minutes I was a little skeptical. I was happy with the way the episode ended. I definately did not want to see a sad ending to start off the quarter. Overall, I started watching the episode expecting not to like it, but by the end of the movie, I was glad I watched it.

I just finished reading everyone's bloggs about Serenity, And I think everyone had somewhat of the same reaction! Noone expected to enjoy it! It started out really slow didnt it?
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way when the episode started! I was a little concerned that the show wouldn't be my taste in the beginning, but I found myself pretty involved by the middle of the episode.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think the opening scene had a lot to do with the rest of the episode, did you? It seemed pretty random.
ReplyDeleteI made a comment like this on someone else's blog, but think about that opening. It felt random to you: why? If it has that feel, why do you think the director included it? Alot of you have felt iffy about the opening. So, talk about it.
ReplyDeleteI think the director included the opening scene because it allowed him/her to show a different side of the captain. He was very positive towards the soldier who had lost hope. He showed good leadership skills, which might have been why the director started the show off with that scene
ReplyDeleteYeah I definately agree with Mack. We see Mack as more optimistic person in the beginning, as we definately do NOT see him as throughout the rest of the episode. I think the opening is a scale to measure exactly how bad things have gotten in the last 6 years for the crew of Serenity.
