Favorite Movie
One of my all-time favorite movies is Remember the Titans. I have seen the movie so many times, but it never gets old. I think I like the movie so much because it is based on a true story involving sports. I find myself liking movies that are sports based and are real stories. The movie really portrays what society was like when blacks and whites were just beginning to unite. There is a scene when Sunshine (a white guy from California) takes Petey and a few other black guys into a restaurant. Even though the black guys said we should not go in there, Sunshine convinced them to go in. The owner of the store comes up and tells the boys that they are full (even though there were a ton of tables available). This scene made me realize just how awful people were treated back then. One of my favorite scenes is when Gary is in the hospital and Julius comes to visit him. The nurse says something to the effect of: "Sorry, visiting hours are only for relatives." Gary, the great guy that he is says, "Alice are you blind. He's my brother." That line always brings a smile to my face because it shows how far the team has come in accepting one another. This movie is and always will be one of my favorites!

I absolutely love this movie!!!! My favorite scene is when the coach runs the team out to Gettysburg. I just love how he incorporates history into sports. I just think its a fascinating portrayal of how racism enveloped every single part of society.
ReplyDeleteI thought Denzel Washington's acting in this movie was inspiring. The way he phrases the things he says to his team is so motivational. Great movie.
ReplyDeleteOmg! those are two of my favorite scenes because of how emotional they are. I actually cry during the part when Gary is in the hospital. I think this movie takes the cake for the movie that I've seen more than any other. It never gets old and thats how you know its a truly a great one!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, this movie is one of the best. And the fact that it is based on a true story is the best part. Another true story about football that is coming out is "The Blind Side" I think it looks that a really good movie.
ReplyDeleteThis is without a doubt my favorite Disney movie. In general, it's just an exciting, inspirational, and overall well-made movie.
ReplyDeleteRemember the Titans is such a classic; the acting is amazing and the story line is phenomenal. I love how the dynamics of the black and white characters changes for the better throughout the movie-- they realize what is really important and become best friends. I cry every time at the end of this movie!
ReplyDeleteI think this is just a great tale of camaraderie. Denzel never disappoints either
ReplyDeleteDenzel is one of favorite actors. This movie is a classic, and such an inspiration to not only athletes but all people who watch it.
ReplyDeleteI like this movie because, as you have portrayed, it really is about so much more then sports.
